My favorite holiday is Christmas. I think that it’s the happiest time of the year. I love the smell of the foods cooking and the fires burning. I love to see the white snow fallen outside. And even the days leading up to the big day are great. From the day after Thanksgiving, when we get our christmas tree, to the New Years Day is the best time of the year. I’ m sure we all love getting presents but thats not even the best part, I really just love spending time with my family.

Technology is everywhere and we can’t escape it. It became part of every day lives. It is used for so many different reasons, the list is endless. One of the reasons is for use in schools. It’s so important that we use it in schools, if we didn’t how would we ever be advancing in society? Not using technology would be old school, back when all they used was pencil, paper and books. I mean how boring is that? Now, you have the world at your fingertips with a computer and the Internet.
Although, some people don’t believe in technology and that’s fine except I really think it’s a necessity or at least it’s going to be one in the future years. It’s important for schools to teach us at a young age how to use a computer because were going to need it so much as we get older. I’ve been using the computer for a long time, and it’s helped me out so much. Besides a computer there is other technology that is important too. Video cameras, digital cameras, recorders, etc. are all types of technology that I know I find myself or other students using in their school work. In my social studies class we go beyond the typical handed in piece of paper by recording our voice on a recorder for the world to listen to. We also use video cameras to present some of our projects. We take pictures on our digital cameras. If we didn’t use things like this, it would make our work boring and not something that would deserve an A+. Technology gives us a chance to expand and be better at things we know or even the things we don’t know.
The world is out their listening and watching. Their just waiting to see what we create, what we can do with it. I’m sure people listen to us to find out new information; the Internet can be a source of news for some people. I’m sure there are people reading the things I have written that I will never meet in my life, and that I will never even know existed.
Why use technology? Well, I know I find myself using it for communicating with friends over the internet, playing computer games, listening to music, and watching videos. But there is more to using technology then the fun of it. In school you need to use to find information on a certain topic. Or to type that 3 page long assignment on the novel you just finished reading in class. Even to collaborate with a class that is half way across the world! Where would we go if we didn’t use technology? We use it to find out new information, new things that can only make us more advanced. Think of how far we’ve already come using it, now just imagine what its going to be like one hundred years from now.

I have mixed feelings on starting high school next year. It’s going to be just like staring middle school all over again. We have to go to a new school, meet different people, and learn more stuff. I was really nervous when I started middle school and starting high school is going to be even worse. I don’t like the idea of being in the highest grade level right now and then starting off at the lowest grade level in high school. I like meeting new people but I’m still nervous about meeting new people at the high school. I’m excited to play on the sports teams because there are a bigger selection and they are more competitive. I also like that there are a lot of interesting class that you get to choose from. I have friends that are already there and I’m excited to finally be in the same school as them. My brother was a senior there last year and my cousin is a senior this year so I’m not going to have any family while I’m there which is a good thing and bad thing. But overall, I’m excited to start high school next year.

I think the video about the two guys opening the book is really funny. I think that the man who called for help about opening the book was only used to using computers. He didn’t understand the meaning of a book and why its important when you could just use a computer. The video is also trying to tell us that technology is being used way more often then regular books or text books. I thought it was really funny how the guy had no idea that you couldnt open the book from both sides and he thought that if he flipped the pages and tried to go back that he could lose all the text. But honestly, I think that it was a little over exaggerated because everybody especially a man at the age should understand the meaning of a book.

”Outside of parents, who has influenced your life more than anyone else; who had an impact on your life and what was it about that person that meant something to you?”
The person who has influenced my life most is probably my brother. Ever since I was little I have always wanted to be like him. I act just like he does. He is quiet in school but at home he could be loud and annoying just like me. His sense of humor is just like mine too, were both sarcastic and can be really funny. And I used to be a tomboy becuase I’d like wearing my brothers clothes even though thats weird I dont know why I did it. I’m good a sports because of him. Me and my brother have both been very athletic since we were little. The only reason I started playing softball is because I loved watching my brother play baseball and he is really good at it so I wanted to be just like him. He also helps me get better at sports too. He may be mean to me at times but I can tell that he cares about me even if he doesnt like to show it. When I was upset about not making the basketball team he was the one who made me feel better out of everybody who said anything to me. I thougt he wouldnt care but the things he told me were so nice that I was really suprised. He can be lazy and not do his work but for some reason hes still good at everything he does. He also cares about how I do in softball. He will ask me after almost every game how I do and when I told hm my elbow was hurting me from throwing he took time to correct what I was doing. Now that he’s in college its different around here, and I kind of wish he was home more often.

I wonder… About so many things that list could go o forever but I decided on this one, How different would this world be if everyone decided to care a little more, think longer about things, and forgive everybody no matter what?
I’m wondering that because I listened to a song called Better days by The Goo Goo Dolls and they gave me that idea. Its a really good song with a lot of meaning behind it. Click on this link http://music.aol.com/video/better-days/goo-goo-dolls/1432796 to listen to it. The Goo Goo Dolls website: http://www.googoodolls.com/

I read this blog Discourse about Discourse and this is my opinion on this question, Why should students come to class?
I do not think learning outside of school is a very good idea at all even though I much rather stay home. If we were all to stay home on our computer and do our work, there are so many ways things could wrong. And talking to your teacher face to face about anything, is a hundred times better then communicating through the internet. How will you know the tone of voice they are using? Are they joking with you? What does their facial expression look like? Talking to anybody face to face beats online communication. If we all stayed home how we be able to go out in the world and be normal? Going to school is part of your life and makes you who you are. You meet almost all friends are at school too, and then how would we be able to see them? You also need to consider that just giving them students work online is not something everybody will like. Some kids are not good with computer and much rather perfer paper and pencil. There comes a point when the computer is just too much and you need a break from it. Like right now in Social Studies all we use is the computer and honestly its annoying me, I kind of want to just take notes for once.

Okay so this is really disgusting but I think you’d like give your opinion on this question….
Would you rather eat(chew) Glass or eat LIVE Ants?
So here’s some information on both subjects.
Glass is known to be made since way back around 3000 BC. It is something that is used in our everyday lives such as bottles, mirrors, windows, and light-bulbs. It is translucent and made out of super-heated silica sand. When dropped it will shatter into a million pieces. Its a sharp object that can cause you to get cut. If you swallowed it, it would cut your mouth and cut its way down into your stomach. Just think of all the bleeding that would be going on your body. Does that sound like fun to you?
Ants, the tiny little creatures that crawl around on the ground and hunt for food. They have been living on the plant for about 100 million years. It is estimated that there are 20,000 species of ants. They live in homes and small colonies. Ants have four stages of development egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Ants do not have lungs they have little wholes through out their whole body. And ants can carry up to 7 times their own body weight. So imagine eating these tiny little creatures live, squishing between your teeth and then one of their legs is still moving?! That is absolutely disgusting. And imagine if you eat a pregnant one with all its babies inside?

So Tell me which would you rather eat GLASS OR LIVE ANTS?
